A big part of why I agreed to join the board of Dome Fest West was to help the festival fulfill its potential of being a valuable marketplace that serves planetarium operators, filmmakers, producers, and distributors. Having been on all sides of those relationships, I’ve seen that nothing has an impact on show licensing like actually seeing shows in a dome, especially with an audience.
I wrote a piece for the Dome Fest West blog this month explaining how film festivals, like DFW, support those relationships and help everyone–from planetariums looking to sample the newest content to find what will work for their theater, to filmmakers looking for the right domes for their productions, and how all of us benefit from the market of ideas seeing innovative programs and experiences.
