Client: Southeastern Planetarium Association
Project: Hurricane Helene Education
The Southeastern Planetarium Association approached us to create visual storytelling resources for North Carolina educators, supporting their efforts to help the public understand the development and impact of Hurricane Helene.
The effects of this catastrophic 2024 storm will continue to be felt for years, and educators and outreach professionals will continue to need to tell the story of the storm.
An essential resource for this presentation was NOAA‘s high-resolution satellite imagery, but they’re kept readily accessible for only 90 days. To maximize the impact of this project, we dug into NOAA’s archives to recover expired imagery of the storm, then combined it with additional data from NOAA’s National Hurricane Center to provide compelling interactive visuals.
